Help with your ID and selfie

You can open a Chase account with a valid photo ID.

We'll accept any of the following:

  • A passport
  • A UK driving licence
  • An EU national ID card

Remember to make sure that your ID is still in date. We’ll also need you to take a selfie to compare against your photo ID to confirm that it’s really you.

We're unable to accept any driving licences that have had their expiration date extended due to Covid-19. The expiry date printed on your ID must be a date in the future.

If you're struggling to take a picture of yourself or your ID

If your selfie keeps getting rejected, please keep trying. Make sure you're in a well-lit room, with nothing hiding your face (glasses are fine). For best results, look straight on at the camera against a plain background. Make sure your picture isn't blurry and all your face can be seen.

If your ID doesn't match your selfie, please keep trying. Make sure your ID is in focus, with no glare and all the details clear. You might find this easier if you hold your ID against a wall or put your ID against a dark background.

Double-check all your details, your name must be in the same order as on your ID.

Take fresh photos, as old photos of ID won't work. You need to take a new picture of your original ID when you apply.
