Managing your Chase credit card
How do I change my credit limit?
Decreasing your credit limit
You can decrease your credit limit in quantities of £50. At the moment, you won't be able to increase your limit again after you decrease it.
To decrease your limit:
- Open your credit card account in the app
- Tap on the credit card account options – using the 3 dots in the top right-hand corner
- Tap 'Manage credit limit'
- Tap 'Decrease'
Before decreasing, it's worth bearing in mind that using less of a higher credit limit is usually better for your credit score than using more of a lower credit limit.
Automatic credit limit increases
Sometimes, and only when you're eligible, we may be able to increase your credit limit. You can either opt in to automatic credit limit increases, be asked first or opt out completely. If you'd like to opt in, we'll still always let you know before we increase your limit.
To manage your preferences:
- Open your credit card account in the app
- Tap on the credit card account options – using the 3 dots in the top right-hand corner
- Tap 'Manage credit limit'
- Tap 'Set preferences'
How do I check my balance?
Your total balance (excluding pending transactions) will always be visible on Home – just scroll down to the Credit section. To see your available credit and statement balance as well, simply tap on your credit card account.
Where do I find my credit card statements?
There are two ways to check and download your credit card statements.
- Open your credit card account, then tap 'See statements'
- Open your profile by tapping the profile icon in the top left corner of the home screen, tap ‘Statements', then tap 'Monthly statements' to see a list of all of your monthly statements
What if my balance is in credit?
If you get a refund for something after repaying your balance, you'll be 'in credit', which means we owe you some money back. This doesn't affect your credit score. If this happens, you can either:
- Ask us to move the money over to one of your Chase current accounts – to do this, tap ‘Support’ in the app to call or message us. If you’re abroad, you can call us on +44 203 493 0829.
- Spend as normal to bring your balance out of credit
Where can I use my credit card?
You can use your credit card in most places that accept MasterCard – at home and abroad, with no fees from us. You just can't use it for gambling or crypto assets, for example.
What if my credit card is lost, stolen or damaged?
If your credit card is lost, stolen or damaged, follow the instructions on this FAQ.
How do I find my interest rate?
You can check your current interest rate, information about when your promotional interest period starts and ends and any fees associated with your credit card account.
To do this:
- Open your credit card account in the app
- Tap on the credit card account options – using the 3 dots in the top right-hand corner
- Tap 'See interest rate'
How do I close my credit card account?
You can request to close your credit card account at any time, but it may take some time to fully close. This is because we'll need to make sure you've repaid anything you owe us, and also process any refunds, disputes or pre-authorised payments. Just so you know, if you want to close your current accounts with us, you'll have to close your credit card account first.
To start the process of closing your credit card account:
- Open your credit card account in the app
- Tap on the credit card account options – using the 3 dots in the top right-hand corner
- Tap 'Close account'
Once you've submitted your request to close, please make sure you continue to keep up with your repayments until your balance is cleared completely. If you have a positive balance when we close your account, we will return the amount to the Chase current account you're spending from at the time.
