CHAPS payments

CHAPS are same-day UK payments.

They're often used to move large sums of money quickly. You could use CHAPS to make a large deposit into your Chase saver account, for example, or to receive money after selling your home.

Just so you know, CHAPS are processed in sterling – during working hours on weekdays, excluding bank holidays.

Receiving a CHAPS payment?

It’s free to receive a CHAPS payment and it usually reaches your account on the day we get the funds. If we need to carry out extra security checks, there may be a delay before the money arrives – but we’ll let you know if that happens.

If you want to use CHAPS to pay money into your Chase account from another bank, check the bank's terms, cut-off times and charges first.

Sending a CHAPS payment?

You can't send money from Chase using CHAPS but you can use Faster Payments – they’re free and usually take up to 2 hours to arrive.

There's a daily limit to how much you can move from your Chase account to another UK bank account. This is £25,000 but you can find details in the Spending limits section of the Chase app (under Profile).
