A celebration of sporting greatness
After 11 thrilling days, the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games closed with a bang on 8 August 2022.
It was a momentous celebration of the superhuman speed, strength and courage delivered by athletes and para-athletes from around the world.
We enjoyed every minute - and we hope you did too.
Bikes, books and Birmingham
During the Games, Chase customers (and the public) joined our bikeathon challenge at the Chase Village. Together, they racked up an astounding 3,712.67km.
Best of all, we pledged to give 2 books for every kilometre cycled. So that’s 7,426 books heading to school libraries in and around Birmingham.
Poets who know it
We teamed up with the National Literacy Trust to run 'The Power of Sport' poetry competition. Huge congratulations to our winners and all the young poets who took part.
It builds on our Chase Rewarding Futures programme, where we're transforming 150 primary school libraries for children in underserved communities across Great Britain, including Birmingham.
